The Frolicking Foxes Bracelet of Figment Forest

As evening draws in the Figment Forest the atmosphere starts to come alive with the animals who awaken at dusk. This particular evening in July is humid and has been graced with a warm sunset that looks like fire in the sky, streaked with tones of orange, gold and pink. You hear the foxes shrill voices calling to each other before you see them, but then you do see them, their bodies jumping and weaving through the grass as they pounce up and down. Perhaps they are pouncing on mice, or perhaps they are just playing - but the sight is beautiful.

Their energetic bodies silhouetted against the evening sun is so perfect that you take a picture in your mind, to cherish the moment .

All the Details

The Frolicking Foxes Bracelet comprises of seven fox panels which are connected by jump rings, the bracelet is finished with a lobster clasp and fine safety chain. The entire piece is solid sterling silver.

The Frolicking Foxes Bracelet has been hand made by me (Joanna). I made the fox panels by hand, by sculpting metal Art Clay, I then fired them in my small kiln at home. After this, a rubber mould was made and the pieces were cast in solid sterling silver. The sterling silver casts return home to me, where I finish each and every one by hand. The next very special step in the process is then sending away my finished pieces to the Edinburgh Assay Office - where each of my designs is hallmarked with the Edinburgh Hallmarks and my own unique Figment Forest sponsor mark (a tiny shield with FF inside). Once all my pieces have been approved and hallmarked, they again arrive home with me - where they are finished for the final time and packaged carefully, ready to go to new homes.

For the Frolicking Foxes Bracelet I have had all seven foxes hallmarked, so there are seven hallmarks present on your finished bracelet. I chose to do this because in history, antique bracelets which showed hallmarks on each link were regarded as symbol of high quality - and thought to prove that real love and care has been bestowed by the craftsman.

The Frolicking Foxes Bracelet is a statement piece of a medium weight. It is fully detailed on the front with an embossed vine effect, and each panel has a smooth back, allowing it to be smooth against your wrist and making it especially comfortable to wear. Each link depicts a fox silhouette. The foxes are connected with jump rings, this allows movement when worn, so they appear to be jumping along your wrist. The whole bracelet weighs 6.5 grams in total.

The bracelet has been oxidised with a dark patina. The raised parts of the embossed texture have been polished bright again to create contrast and add to the detail. Each fox measures 20 x 10 mms in size, and the entire length of the bracelet is 7.75 cms - perfect for an average medium sized wrist.

My Inspiration

All of my Figment Forest designs are created in my home studio. I live in beautiful central Scotland and work surrounded by birds chirping outside ,with a view out of my window to my garden - which is full of greenery and trees that brings me a lot of joy. Scotland is an enchanting place with so many tales of myth and wonder, these tales fascinate me and it's very easy to gain inspiration from them - which shows heavily in my fantasy designs. I photograph my work outdoors in my garden and also in a forest close to my home.
