Antique Victorian 18ct Gold Rose Cut Diamond and Pearl Angel Wing Statement Stud Earrings

A beautiful pair of antique stud earrings. Each earring has a organicly shaped, almost wing like, design. This intricate and romatic pair show typical elements from the Victoria period which they originate from (circa 1880). Studded all over with shimmering rose cut diamonds (30 in total), and adorned further with two natural white baroque pearls. This pair can be worn multiple ways, with the diamond elements pointing up or down. Personally, with the diamonds pointing up, I feel these look like the famous Valkyrie Tiara and resemble wings. These would be simply stunning for a bride, or a dinner party.

The earring faces are made of sterling silver, the back of the earrings and stud posts are made of 18ct gold, and the butterfly backs are later replacements - made of 9ct gold.
We predict that this pair were originally part of a larger piece - perhaps a tiara, and were converted to earrings are a later date. The fabrication of the gold around the base of the posts suggests that this was an early conversion project.

SPECIFICS:
Hallmarks: Unmarked - tested and verified as sterling silver face, 18ct gold back and post, and the butterfly backs are stamped as 9ct.
Age: Originally made circa 1880, converted to earrings at a later date in history.
Weight: Together the earrings weigh 5.3 grams.
Gemstones: Each earring has 3 larger rose cut diamonds (6 in total) which each measure around 2.5-3 mms. One earrings has 13 smaller rose cut diamonds, and one has 12 smaller rose cut diamonds (with a tiny one missing). The smaller diamonds range between 1-1.5 mms each.
It's very hard to give an accurate carat weight for rose cut diamonds in a closed back setting, but the surface measurements of these diamonds equate to look of around 0.75cts. Each earring also has a 6.5 x 5 mm drilled natural white baroque pearl.
Size: Each earring face measures 2.25 cms x 1.4 cms in size

In very good antique condition, with just minimal light tarnish and faint surface scratches. As noted already above, these earrings are a historical conversion piece. There is one tiny 1 mm diamond missing from one side, which is hardly noticable and does not detract. The butterfly backs are replacements for the originals. These earrings have been professionally cleaned and polished, they are ready to wear or to give as a gift. Please see the photos.

We offer in-house ring re-sizing. Please contact us if the ring you like is not in your size, we will advise on if it can be sized and will give you a no obligation quote. Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.

Items under £200 are posted via Royal Mail Tracked 48
Items over £200 are posted via Royal Mail Special Delivery

International orders:
Items under £200 are shipped via Royal Mail International Standard (no tracking, but tracking can be added for a £5 upgrade at checkout if needed)
Items over £200 are shipped via Royal Mail Tracked

Delivery time will vary dependant on your location and the estimations given by Etsy are a rough guide but not guaranteed.

Please note that we do not provide parcel contents insurance with our free standard shipping. Etsy Buyer Protection offers insurance for all parcels upto the value of £200/$250, this is free and included as standard with all Etsy orders.
If you would like to purchase insurance for higher value orders, or if you would like expedited shipping - please message us for a quote, as we happily provide quotes for UPS and DHL delivery on request.
In the event that a parcel goes missing in the post, we cannot be held liable or claim for compensation unless insurance has been chosen.

RETURNS POLICY:

• We must be informed of the intent to return within 3 days of the item arriving, the item must be shipped back within 7 days of it arriving
• Returned items must be in original unaltered condition, must have all original packaging, and be sent back with full insurance. If returned with inadequate or missing packaging, additional charges will occur.
• Original shipping costs are non-refundable (postage costs will be deducted from the refund of any free delivery orders)
• For returns outside of the UK, a 10% restocking fee is charged.
• In instances where a client declines to pay an import charge, the restocking fee is 20%

NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS:
Pierced earrings cannot be returned under UK hygeine legislation.
Customised items (including resized rings)
Sale/clearance items, are considered a final sale and non-returnable.
