Antique Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold Repousse Leaf and Rock Crystal Glass Locket Brooch Pin

A gorgeous work of art hailing from the mid to late 19th century, this large Victorian brooch is an exceptional piece and is just devine in detail! It is made of desirable buttery golden yellow antique 15ct gold and features raised engraved repousse style leaves in a deep domed rope twist detailed frame. In the center of the leaves we have a cluster of stunning old faceted rock crystal quartz gemstones, which are foiled and held in closed back setting with crimped antique claws. These rock crystals display a gorgeous silvery grey glow thanks to the foiled effect.

The back of the brooch holds a large clear glass panel which can be gently removed to function as a locket and hold a sentimental photo or lock of hair, it currently holds some blue silky material. The central leaf and cluster part of the brooch swivels around inside the outer frame. The locket fastens with an old antique c-clasp and also has an antique base metal safety chain attached, the frame around the glass is also a sturdy base metal.

This locket has been exceptionally well made, it's a high end, quality antique piece of jewellery that would grace any esteemed collection. It will not disappoint on arrival, it's a delightful item.

In good antique condition with some age related tarnish and wear. There are some shallow dings and dents along the outer frame area. there is some old solder evident on the loop at the base of the safety chain. This piece has been lightly and sympathetically cleaned and polished. Please see the photos.
