A beautiful antique gold locket dating to the Art Nouveau era, circa 1900. The softly domed oval front is centred by a delicate cluster of luminous seed pearls, arranged in a simple star design against a highly polished gold ground. Fine star engraved settings radiate between the pearls, adding subtle detail. The smooth old rosy tone gold surface reflects the light beautifully, creating a wonderfully understated appearance that feels both timeless and elegant.

Jewellery from the turn of the twentieth century often moved away from the heavier ornament of the Victorian period in favour of softer, more flowing designs inspired by the natural world. Seed pearls were especially treasured, admired for their gentle lustre and often chosen to symbolise purity, sincerity, and affection. The simplicity of this locket allows those beautiful materials and thoughtful details to speak for themselves, resulting in a piece of quiet elegance that has remained effortlessly wearable for well over a century.

Lockets were among the most treasured pieces of jewellery of the period, worn close to the heart and often used to hold photographs or small keepsakes of loved ones. This beautiful example retains all of that original sentiment while offering a timeless design that feels just as wearable today. A very pretty piece ready to be worn and cherished once again, a lovely addition to any growing antique jewellery collection.

Inside the locket there is space to put photos inside. One original frame and glass panel remain inside, but small photos could still be easily added to both sides - as demonstrated by the floral paper currently inside, which could be removed and replaced with your own contents or photos if desired. Opens and closes securely from the right side.

The locket can be purchased alone, or with the 16" 9ct yellow gold modern trace chain pictured. This chain stamped 9ct gold. It's a lightweight, fine, modern chain, so please be aware that the tone of gold does not perfectly match that of the antique locket. This chain is not included in the listing price, but can be purchased for an additional £50 on request.

In very good antique condition, with light age related surface wear and light scratches (mainly on the back where the metal has become a little pitted and textured from wear). With light tarnish inside, as to be expected from an old item. We have given this locket a sympathetic professional polish and clean, so it's ready to wear. Please see the photos.

We offer in-house ring re-sizing. Please contact us if the ring you like is not in your size, we will advise on if it can be sized and will give you a no obligation quote. Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.

Items under £200 are posted via Royal Mail Tracked 48
Items over £200 are posted via Royal Mail Special Delivery

International orders:
Items under £200 are shipped via Royal Mail International Standard (no tracking, but tracking can be added for a £5 upgrade at checkout if needed)

Please note that we do not provide parcel contents insurance with our free standard shipping. Etsy Buyer Protection offers insurance for all parcels upto the value of £200/$250, this is free and included as standard with all Etsy orders.

RETURNS POLICY:

• We must be informed of the intent to return within 3 days of the item arriving, the item must be shipped back within 7 days of it arriving
• Returned items must be in original unaltered condition, must have all original packaging, and be sent back with full insurance. If returned with inadequate or missing packaging, additional charges will occur.
• Original shipping costs are non-refundable (postage costs will be deducted from the refund of any free delivery orders)
• For returns outside of the UK, a 10% restocking fee is charged.
• In instances where a client declines to pay an import charge, the restocking fee is 20%

NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS:
Pierced earrings cannot be returned under UK hygeine legislation.
