Antique Art Nouveau 18ct Gold Emerald and Rose Cut Diamond Statement Cluster Ring / Size N 1/2 or 7.25

An incredible Art Nouveau era statement ring, in 18ct yellow gold with sterling silver accented face. In the center of the ring we find a wonderful oval green emerald cabochon, it's a perfect forest green tone. This ring has a highly ornate, large, face - with open work details and gorgeous ornate flowing swirls. A fantastic ring quality ring with a beautiful whimsical design. The ring face is host to 10 large twinkling natural rose cut diamonds. This ring is a true show stopper and will make her wearer feel like a queen.

The band, gallery and emerald setting are made of 18ct yellow gold, the diamonds are set into sterling silver mounts. This ring was made before it was common to use platinum or white gold as an accent metal, when it was typical to use sterling silver.

The diamonds have been tested and verified as genuine, there are 10 in total, and each measures between 2.5 an 3 mms each. It's impossible to give an accurate carat weight for a rose cut diamond, however to put the size in perspective - a modern brilliant cut diamond ring with similar measurements to this ring would have a total combined carat weight of around 0.90cts. The diamonds shine in the way that you would expect of old antique diamonds, with shimmery dark silver glow rather than a 'bling' sparkle. All of the diamonds are very rocky and organic in nature, each is slightly different in size and shape. One or two of the diamonds have tiny chips in places.

A rose cut diamond is a type of antique diamond that’s famous for its domed top, which features several triangular facets arranged in a rose-like pattern. This is where the name of this cut comes from. Unlike modern diamond cuts, which feature a large pavilion (the pointed lower section that gives the diamond its depth) rose cut diamonds don’t feature any pavilion. As such, the lower half of a rose cut diamond is relatively flat, especially when compared to a brilliant cut diamond. Because of their flat shape, rose cut diamonds appear larger than other diamond cuts when viewed from above. Rose cut diamonds have a fairly low profile. A rose cut diamond won’t extend out too much from its setting, making it an easy type of diamond to wear. It’s estimated that only one out of every 1,000 diamonds available today uses the rose cut, making this diamond shape exceptionally unique and uncommon.
