Antique Art Nouveau 14ct Gold Rose Quartz and Rock Crystal Statement Egg Pendant

An exceptionally unusual antique rose quartz and rock crystal pendant with delicate 14ct rose gold fittings, stamped 585 beside an unidentified makers mark believed to read “KK”. The pendant is formed from two beautifully translucent natural blush pink rose quartz sections, divided by a faceted rock crystal band which catches the light with a subtle, shimmering sparkle. This piece has  softly sculptural quality that sits beautifully within the late Victorian / early Art Nouveau period. This egg is weighty, at 8.9 grams, not small and delicate - it's a statement pendant rather than a charm.

After researching extensively, this piece appears most likely to be Continental European in origin, possibly German or Bohemian, dating somewhere around the early 1900s. The combination of luminous rose quartz, faceted rock crystal, and warm rose gold fittings feels very characteristic of high quality hardstone jewellery from the period. Pieces of this type were often produced by skilled lapidary workshops, where the natural beauty of the stone itself was central to the design. The rose quartz has lovely natural internal veils and inclusions visible within the stone, giving it a soft glowing quality in the light, while the hand finished gold fittings and overall construction give the pendant a beautiful sense of age and high quality craftsmanship.

The egg like form gives the pendant and immediately brings to mind the resemblance to the soft sculptural forms seen in Fabergé pieces of the same era - not in an attempt to imitate them directly, but in the same appreciation for natural stone, delicate gold detail, and beautifully balanced proportions. Eggs have long symbolised renewal, protection, love, and new beginnings, which gives the piece an added sense of romance and mystery. A rare and deeply atmospheric antique pendant with a remarkable sense of age, craftsmanship, and quiet magic.

Size: The egg itself is 2.5 x 1.7 cms in size. 3.4 cms tall (including the bail loop)
Weight: 8.9 grams. 
Age: Circa 1900, late Victorian era / early Art Nouveau era
Hallmarks: The bail loop is stamped '585' for 14ct Gold, with a faint makers mark that may be 'KK'.

In very good antique condition with only minor age wear, light tarnish and surface scratches, there are a few very tiny chip / nibbles, to the inner faceted edges - visible under 10x magnification. This pendant has been professionally cleaned and polished, it's ready to wear or to give as a gift. Please see the photos.

We offer in-house ring re-sizing. Please contact us if the ring you like is not in your size, we will advise on if it can be sized and will give you a no obligation quote. Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.

UK Orders:
Items under £200 are posted via Royal Mail Tracked 48 
Items over £200 are posted via Royal Mail Special Delivery

International orders:
Items under £200 are shipped via Royal Mail International Standard (no tracking, but tracking can be added for a £5 upgrade at checkout if needed)
Items over £200 are shipped via Royal Mail Tracked

Delivery time will vary dependant on your location and the estimations given by Etsy are a rough guide but not guaranteed. 

Please note that we do not provide parcel contents insurance with our free standard shipping. Etsy Buyer Protection offers insurance for all parcels upto the value of £200/$250, this is free and included as standard with all Etsy orders. 
If you would like to purchase insurance for higher value orders, or if you would like expedited shipping - please message us for a quote, as we happily provide quotes for UPS and DHL delivery on request.
In the event that a parcel goes missing in the post, we cannot be held liable or claim for compensation unless insurance has been chosen.

RETURNS POLICY:

• We must be informed of the intent to return within 3 days of the item arriving, the item must be shipped back within 7 days of it arriving
• Returned items must be in original unaltered condition, must have all original packaging, and be sent back with full insurance. If returned with inadequate or missing packaging, additional charges will occur.
• Original shipping costs are non-refundable (postage costs will be deducted from the refund of any free delivery orders)
• For returns outside of the UK, a 10% restocking fee is charged.
• In instances where a client declines to pay an import charge, the restocking fee is 20%

NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS:
Pierced earrings cannot be returned under UK hygeine legislation.
Customised items (including resized rings)
Sale/clearance items, are considered a final sale and non-returnable.
