Antique Ancient Medieval Tudor Gold Bronze Medieval Pitted Statement Band Ring / Size P 1/2 or 8.25

This wonderful ring is an amazing ancient piece of jewellery, an original piece made over 400 years ago. It is considered Museum Grade 'VF' (very fine).

This ring was made sometime in the 16th Century - between 1500 and 1600. It is made of a solid copper / bronze metal composition, when this composition is highly polished it has a golden appearance so was often used as a substitute to real gold. The design has a very organic feel, with flowing smooth curved lines and deeply recessed pitted round 'holes' decor. A very special band ring.

A truly unique ring. A one of a kind piece of ancient jewellery, completely fascinating to the jewellery lover and historian alike.

This Medieval ring was found by a metal detector in 1991, in York. It was sourced by myself from a trusted private collection. The exterior of this ring has been sympathetically restored and polished to make it a wearable piece, but the inside of the band has been left untouched to retain authenticity. You can see, that at some point in history this ring was resized up dramatically and an additional piece of metal was added into the band, this piece of metal is smoother.

Size P 1/2 (a medium finger size). US size 8.25. This ring is off-round so the size is an approximation. The ring weighs 2.6 grams. With width of the ring face is 8.5 mms.

In worn antique condition but still very wearable, either as a finger ring or placed on a gold chain to wear around the neck. Please bear in mind that this piece is 400+ years old and was found in the ground hundreds of years later, so it does of course have wear to reflect this. The band is a little misshapen. Please see the photos.

I have not had this ring certified, as this would mean I would have to drastically increase my prices to cover this cost. Of course, once you have the ring, you could choose to send it to an archaeologist yourself and have a certificate made. I am 100% confident in my source, and in this ring, so I am happy to guarantee it as being in excess of 400 years old. Should you find out otherwise I will offer a full money back guarantee.

Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.
