Antique 1892 Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold 1.18cts Old Mine Cut Diamond 5 Stone Ring / Size N or 7

A beautiful solid 18ct yellow gold antique ring, an original antique with amazng crisp hallmarks that tell us it was made in Birmingham, 1892 - late Victorian era. Wow! Set with 5 rare old mine cut diamonds in graduating sizes, the diamonds spread right across the finger for maximum sparkle. The shank is elegantly made, with fine prongs, and plenty of open area to allow the light to shine through the diamonds, classic perfection. A heirloom worthy piece of antique jewellery, and a jewellery box staple. This band can be easily stacked, or worn alone, or would also make a gorgeous engagement or wedding ring.

Diamond content:
These amazing natural antique diamonds are all old mine cuts, with chunky facets and small cut culets. They have been assessed and verified as earth mined.
The center diamond measures 4.3 x 4.3 x 3mms (0.35ct), next is 4 x 3.9 x 3 mms (0.30cts), next is 3.8 x 3.8 x 2.5 mms (0.23cts), next is 3.6 x 3.5 x 2.1 mms (0.17cts), last is 3.1 x 3 x 2.3 mms (0.13cts)
Together, the estimated total diamond carat weight is 1.18cts
These diamonds are gorgeous antique examples. They are super sparkly, especially in low light (they were cut at a time where candle light was common). They do have natural inclusions, the largest is the most included, though the inclusions are primarly white/clear (there is just one tiny black caron inclusion), so they are not distracting. The colour is very good for all 5, with just one of the medium sized diamonds showing a slight warm tint.

In very good antique condition with minimal signs of light wear and age related tarnish. Really quite exceptionally excelllent condition given it's age. A couple of prongs have worn a little shorter, but all diamonds are still very much secure. One of the outer diamonds has a very tiny scratch. This ring has been professionally cleaned and polished, it's ready to wear, to give as a gift, or to propose with. Please see the photos.

Please be aware that antique diamonds should be judged on a case by case basis as they were made before the time where 'The 4 C's' were used to grade diamonds, which is why we do not apply 'The 4 C's' in our evaluation. All antique diamonds almost always score low on this scale. Antique diamonds were cut by hand, not machines, by historical lapidarists who skillfully worked to make each individual diamonds natural beauty shine through. They were handmade so each is unique and one of a kind, which makes them impossible to grade with modern day chart and formulas.

We offer in-house ring re-sizing. Please contact us if the ring you like is not in your size, we will advise on if it can be sized and will give you a no obligation quote. Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.
