Antique 1879 Victorian Sterling Silver Aesthetic Japanese Sceneic Crane Bird Brooch Pin

A beautiful antique Victorian era brooch. This brooch is rectangular shaped with a gorgeous border framing the main design, of an engraved crane bird and reeds. Inside the back of the brooch behind the pin, is a glass locket panel, however the glass has been lost over the years so this is now a hollow that doesn't function as a locket any more. A gorgeous antique aesthetic piece of jewellery.

In Japanese folklore, the crane (or Tsuru in Japanese) is a strong majestic bird that mates for life and is said to live for a thousand years. It symbolizes honor, good fortune, loyalty, and longevity

Hallmarked with the lion passant and anchor, for Sterling Silver and Birmingham, the date letter is for year 1879. Makers mark 'T&JB'
Weighs 6.7 grams.
With an old style long C clasp.

In good antique condition with some tarnish and surface wear, as to be expected from an antique item. There are some small dings and dents, and tlight scratches. Please see the photos.
