Alura the female dragon resides in the Figment Forest. We don't see her often in the forest, as she tends to keep herself to herself, but you can be sure that she watching silently from the treetops. Alura is a dragon of a gentle nature, she's intelligent and passive. To the Figment Forest creatures, she holds the title of 'Watcher of the Forest', since the creatures can remember Alura has watched over the forest, nobody knows her birthday or even her general age, she's thought to be as old as time itself. Alura is a fine set dragon, her face is gentle and her medium snout is slender. She has an unusual mane of fine hair down her back, and large (almost fairy like) veined wings. She is graceful in movement and can move almost silently through the forest without being seen.

Alura the dragon pendant is a Limited Edition of 50. Only 50 will ever be made and released, worldwide, ever!

All the Details

Alura the Female Dragon Necklace comprises of Alura herself (the pendant) cast in solid sterling silver, and a black velveteen necklace chain with silver tone fixings.

Alura has been hand made by me (Joanna), she is a completely original dragon, every small detail was created by hand with hours of care going into her overall design. I first made Alura from precious metal Art Clay, and fired her in my small kiln at home. After this, a rubber mould was made and the piece was cast in solid sterling silver. The sterling silver casts return home to me, where I finish each and every one by hand. The next very special step in the process is then sending away my finished pieces to the Edinburgh Assay Office - where each of my designs is hallmarked with the Edinburgh Hallmarks and my own unique Figment Forest sponsor mark (a tiny shield with FF inside). Once all my pieces have been approved and hallmarked, they again arrive home with me - where they are finished for the final time and packaged carefully, ready to go to new homes.

Alura the Female Dragon a substantial and weighty pendant, her wings meet at the tip and the necklace chain goes through the gap - so there are no unsightly jump rings or loops - Alura is suspended on the velveteen chain as if in flight when you wear her. She is also completely 3D, with so many tiny details, right down the the veins on her wings, tiny individual toes, and each strand of hair in her mane. She stands at 3.4 cms tall (from the tip of her wings to the tip of her tail) 3 cms wide (from snout tip to tail), and weighs a chunky 29 grams. Alura has been given an antiqued patina, with darker shadows resting in the grooves - this really helps to bring her to life. Her raised details have been lightly polished which give the whole design fantastic depth. (Please note that each Alura pendant is finished by hand, and the patina shades may vary every so slightly due to the oxidisation process - every Alura dragon is unique and has her own subtle differences in colours and character). Alura the Female Dragon is fully hallmarked with the Edinburgh Assay marks and Figment Forest sponsor mark on her tummy.

The chain that comes with this pendant is a velveteen black fabric chain with silver tone fixings. The chain is 20" long and can be worn between 20" and 22" long due to the attached extension chain. I chose this as Alura is very heavy, and this chain supports her weight while still being comfortable to wear. It is a beautiful necklace that is smooth and silky to wear.

Each Alura Dragon pendant and chain will arrive with you presented in a leatherette gift box, ready to give as a gift or just to store Alura in when you are not wearing her.

My Inspiration

All of my Figment Forest designs are created in my home studio. I live in beautiful central Scotland and work surrounded by birds chirping outside ,with a view out of my window to my garden - which is full of greenery and trees that brings me a lot of joy. Scotland is an enchanting place with so many tales of myth and wonder, these tales fascinate me and it's very easy to gain inspiration from them - which shows heavily in my fantasy designs. I photograph my work outdoors in my garden and also in a forest close to my home.
